Laura Henkel, Ph.D. is an art advisor for private, corporate and institutional art portfolios. She brings leadership, passion, initiative and commitment to direct executive administrative and strategic marketing-public relation activities for art organizations to be significant cultural resources in the international contemporary art community.
Dr. Henkel is the owner of Sin City Gallery in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sin City Gallery is an established gallery with the reputation for exhibiting sophisticated, alluring and thought-provoking artists. The gallery continues to expand its presentation of both national and international artists who provoke the viewer to think with their senses and feel with their minds.
Dr. Henkel is the producer and executive director of 12 Inches of Sin, an international juried art exhibition. 12 Inches of Sin is an extension of Henkel’s vision to showcase the finest art by juror-selected artists from around the world. The exhibition explores the variety of subjects and themes with elegance and modern innovation, through a variety of work no larger than 12” square. This unique exhibition provides art patrons with the opportunity to secure the finest works of erotic art from prestigious and emerging artists who embody both the cutting edge of today’s contemporary art world and the vast breadth of artistic expression.
Dr. Henkel specializes in art consulting and art appraisals for commercial and residential portfolios. She creates business development strategies for the acquisition, preservation and promotion of specialized collections.
Dr. Henkel received her PhD/Doctorate of Human Sexuality and certificates in sex education from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, California. Her dissertation was the artistic and operational development for the Erotic Heritage Museum, a 24,000 square foot facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Museum opened in 2008 and within two years she developed the Museum to become the Best Pick for Culture in Las Vegas by 944 Magazine and received the honor for Best Museum by the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Dr. Henkel is a board member of the 18b Neighborhood Arts Association and Contemporary Art Center, Las Vegas. She is a member of the Nevada Museum Association, the Las Vegas Metro Arts Council and the American College of Sexologists and continues her clinical sexology practice through Connect Concept. She is an Adjunct Faculty member for the South Asia Institute for Human Sexuality.
She is a contributing writer for many international publications concerning art, culture and lifestyle.
