Dr. Laura Henkel is a multi-faceted leader who believes that art has the power to transform space and build community. Her career in cultural arts has expanded to the design and execution of creative projects, inclusive of operations management, curation, corporate archives, educational programming, marketing and public relations to support global brand recognition.

Dr. Henkel produces the juried art exhibition, 12 Inches of Sin. The annual exhibition explores the diverse landscape of sexuality through the lens of contemporary art. The exhibition’s jurors consist of esteemed artists, authors, cultural founders, museum directors and philanthropists who have a keen understanding of avant-garde arts and culture. Within eight years, the exhibition has received submissions by artists from 26 countries and submissions have grown 300% in eight years.

Dr. Henkel works with numerous for-profit and non-profit art institutions. She served as Director of Operations for International Art Museum of America, a 20,000 ft.2. nonprofit art facility, whereby she streamlined operations and budgets, revamped internal policy and procedures, and activated a a museum store in San Francisco. She served as an Art Advisor for WEAM to evaluate the value of the art collection for insurance purposes. She served as Executive Director and Curator for EHM of Las Vegas, a 24,000 ft.2 nonprofit art facility in Las Vegas.  

On behalf of EHM of Las Vegas, Dr. Henkel traveled to Europe and Asia to secure art exhibitions and alliances. She lectured internationally and taught graduate studies related to the field of Erotology via her alma mater, Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Her PhD dissertation was the creation of EHM of Las Vegas which included the design and construction of the art facility, the development of permanent and temporary art exhibitions, educational programming, marketing and public relations, and community outreach.

Dr. Henkel is member of the American College of Sexologists and the Nepal Institute of Human Sexuality since 2004. She serves at Vice President of the Board for the 18b Las Vegas Arts District Neighborhood Association since 2017.
